The W2 Pro GP driver started from the pole-position, but didn't have an easy time holding off Arthur Leist in the Stock Series. Vitor Baptista completed the podium at Velopark

Zezinho Muggiati won, end-to-end, race 1 of the Stock Series held at Velopark this Saturday (2). In 32 laps, the W2 Pro GP driver had to fight hard with Arthur Leist to win the race at the circuit in Rio Grande do Sul. Vitor Baptista completed the podium
At the start, Muggiati was the pole-position and kept ahead. Further back, Raphael Reis also started very well and took second place from Leist. Baptista made a contained start, trying not to hit his opponents, and fell to fifth.
With 25 minutes to go, Zezinho had already opened a good margin in the lead. Vitor Baptista started to climb the field, passing Lucas Kohl and taking fourth place. On the sixth lap, the safety car was called after a spin by Guilherme Backes. The race remained under a yellow flag for three minutes and, during the restart, Leist tried unsuccessfully to pass Reis.

On lap 12, Baptista passed Leist and jumped to third place, but was soon overtaken again. It was only in the 21st round that Arthur, finally, overtook Raphael and took the second position.
With five minutes to go, Muggiati started to lose performance and saw the second place starting to get closer. On lap 28, Baptista and Reis touched each other and almost missed out. The race direction gave Raphael a warning for his conduct on the track.
On the penultimate lap, Reis lost control of his car and went into the grass, and that was the end of the race for him. At the front, Leist opened the last lap chasing the leader, with the gap dropping to less than a second. But there was no time, and so victory for Muggiati. Race 2 takes place on Sunday and is scheduled to start at 11:15 am (Brasília time).
