Valentino Rossi has received yet another tribute for his victorious career in the World Motor Speed Championship. Seven times champion of the premier class - six in MotoGP and one in 500cc - the Italian received from the city of Pesaro, in central Italy, a giant sculpture of a helmet.

The work, signed by artist Riccardo Sivelli, was installed in Piazza D'Annunzio and is of enormous proportions: the replica of the hull is four meters high and six meters wide. The piece is made of polystyrene, wood, iron, and resins.

"We wanted to break the Guinness record, like Valentino Rossi did in his career," said Matteo Ricci, mayor of Pesaro.

The visor of the world's biggest helmet is made of oleographic/3D material, which gives the public the perception of looking into the pilot's eyes.

On social networks, Rossi joked: "I always dreamed of having a big helmet like this," he wrote. "Thank you to the municipality of Pesaro for this tribute," he closed.

The Italian, who won nine world titles in his career - seven in the main division, one in 250cc and one in 125cc - retired last year at the age of 42, but is still active, now on four wheels, as he competes in GT World Challenge.

MotoGP is now on vacation, and will be back in action on August 7th, with the British GP at Silverstone.GRANDE PRÊMIO is following all the activities of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.
