The Frenchman predicted a strong weekend for Yamaha at Sachsenring, even though he has encountered difficulties on the track in the past. The reigning champion stressed that the absence of Marc Márquez is not a motivation
Fabio Quartararo stated that a win at this weekend's German GP is not as valuable because of the absence of Marc Márquez. The Frenchman from Nice assessed that it would be motivating to win with the Honda rider on the track, since Sachsenring is a track dominated by the Spaniard.
On the eve of the tenth round of the 2022 season, Quartararo predicted a good performance of the YZR-M1 at the Saxon circuit, even though it does not have a glorious track record. During his stint in Moto3 in 2015 and 2016, Fabio failed to score in races in Germany. In 2017, he was 13th in Moto2, improved to ninth the following year. In 2019, in his MotoGP debut, he started second, as the best Yamaha, but crashed still on the second lap. In last year's race, he was third after being the only YZR-M1 in Q2 qualifying.

"Sachsenring is a circuit at which we were not bad last year, but it has some points that cost me a lot with our bike, as it happened in 2019 and also in 2021, even though I finished on the podium," Fabio said after the MotoGP test in Catalonia. "We'll see, but surely it won't be a bad track for us," he assured.
The German GP this weekend will be marked by the dispute for the throne, vacated by the absence of Marc Márquez, who is recovering from a fourth surgery on his right arm. The Spaniard has won every MotoGP race contested at Sachsenring since he debuted in the premier class in 2013.
Quartararo, however, does not see Marc's absence as an opportunity to take the crown from Saxony. On the contrary. The Nice driver understands that winning without the Spaniard on the track has less value.
"It's not the same. After all, Marc won everything there, so it doesn't motivate me anymore. What would motivate me is to win with him on the track. And nobody has managed to do that," he closed.
