A tumultuous Sunday (26th) at Assen saw Fabio Quartararo lose a little fat in the 2022 Drivers' World Championship standings. The Yamaha rider arrived for the Dutch GP with a 34-point lead over Aleix Espargaró, but goes into the vacation break only 21 points ahead of his closest rival.

The damage, however, could have been much greater. Aleix had a very strong pace on the track in the Netherlands, but had his performance badly damaged by Fabio, who put him out of the race early on, when he crashed for the first time.

The eldest Espargaró made an excellent recovery race and managed to salvage a fourth place, which allowed him to score a lot of points after falling to 15th in the race. Fabio, on the other hand, did not score any points, as he took a second tumble in turn 5 and abandoned for good.

After a good sequence of races, Johann Zarco was discreet in the Netherlands and scored only three points, but remains third in the table, now 58 points behind Fabio. Back to winning ways again, Francesco Bagnaia moved up two places to fourth, now 66 points behind the leader.

Enea Bastianini dropped to fifth, ahead of Brad Binder. Jack Miller remains seventh, with Joan Mir passing Álex Rins to become eighth. Miguel Oliveira remains in tenth place in the World Driver's Championship.

With one point less than the Portuguese rider, Jorge Martin is 11th, ahead of Maverick Viñales, who moved up two places thanks to his podium finish in Assen. Absent Marc Márquez dropped to 13th, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi, who gained three positions.

Luca Marini dropped to 15th, ahead of Takaaki Nakagami, Pol Espargaró, Álex Márquez, Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Darryn Binder, and Andrea Dovizioso. Remy Gardner and Raúl Fernández remain at the bottom of the standings, ahead of only Stefan Bradl, Michele Pirro and Lorenzo Savadori, who have not scored so far.
