MotoE - Eric Granado scores podium at Assen

Eric Granado conquered another podium in the 2022 MotoE World Cup season. On Saturday (25), the Brazilian of the LCR team completed the first race of the Dutch stage, held at the Assen circuit, in second place, after battling for first position throughout the eight laps on the European circuit.

Granado started from second position and dropped as far as fourth in the opening meters, only to start a fast recovery. Within two laps, the Brazilian was already in third place, close to the two leaders. In the fifth lap, Granado took the lead and kept it until the end in an intense battle with Swiss Dominique Aegerter and Italian Mattia Casadei.

The three exchanged many overtaking moves, and Aegerter touched Granado, which destabilized the Brazilian's bike and dropped him to third. In the final meters, in a daring maneuver, Eric dived on his rivals and the trio crossed the finish line almost evenly matched. The victory went to the Swiss Aegerter, followed by Granado and the Italian Casadei.

"It was a great race and a great battle for the win. (Dominique) Aegerter forced to pass me on the last lap, unfortunately. I lost a little time, but I gave my best to get there and finish second. The victory didn't come, but I got another podium, and I'll fight to get another position in tomorrow's race," said Granado, who is second in the championship standings. The lead is with Aegerter.

The second MotoE race in Assen will be held this Sunday (26), starting at 10:30 a.m., with ESPN and Star+ broadcasting.
