Guevara dominates Germany from end-to-end and wins 3rd in 2022 in Moto3. Moreira is 16th

Izán Guevara took advantage of the pole position to lead the German GP from end to end and win with ease

In a dominant weekend, Izán Guevara did everything right to win the German Moto3 GP. The Aspar rider had a smooth start, managed the race well, and opened the advantage to win by a wide margin. It is the Spaniard's third win of the 2022 season.

Dennis Foggia even tried to catch him, but was not successful. He was second, 4s853 seconds behind the winner. The third place is Sergio García, who tried to steal the position of the Italian driver from Leopard to try to double the Aspar team, but he didn't succeed either.

Ayumu Sasaki and Tatsuki Suzuki close in fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Daniel Holgado, Deniz Öncü, Adrian Fernández, David Muñoz, and Ivan Ortolá complete the top-10. Brazilian Diogo Moreira finished the race in 16th.

With the result, García now leads the World Driver's Championship with 166 points, only seven more than Guevara. Foggia is third, 51 points behind the leader. Jaume Masià is fourth in the standings, followed by Öncü, Sasaki, and Suzuki. Moreira is in 15th place with 34 points.

Find out how the Moto3 German GP went:

Exactly as it happened throughout the weekend, Sunday in Chemnitz dawned sunny and hot. Before the start of Moto3, the temperature was already 33°C, with the asphalt reaching 43°C. The relative humidity reached 25%, with the wind blowing at 14 km/h.

In terms of tire choice, the riders were almost all on the same option: most put on M3 front and S2 rear. Tatsuki Suzuki, Andrea Migno and Alberto Surra opted for the harder front, H3, while Adrián Fernández, Carlos Tatay, Diogo Moreira, Deniz Öncü and Surra put on HS at the back, the toughest rubber Dunlop brought to Sachsenring.

At the start, pole man Izán Guevara got off to a good start and was able to hold the lead, with Dennis Foggia jumping into second, ahead of Tatsuki Suzuki and David Muños. Moreira also advanced and moved up to 14th. Within the first few meters, Carlos Tatay advanced on Ricardo Rossi, and both crashed, in a crash that also involved John McPhee.

Meanwhile, Guevara maintained the lead, but was unable to open the advantage over Foggia. Dani Holgado moved up to third, followed by Suzuki and Muñoz. Sergio García had moved up to sixth, ahead of Ayumu Sasaki. Further back, Moreira was 17th.

Early in the race, Deniz Öncü and Kaito Toba were sanctioned with a double long lap for burning the start at Sachsenring.

If Foggia was not attacking Guevara, Holgado was on top of the Italian and took second place, 0s132s behind the Aspar driver. Suzuki was close behind in fourth, followed by Sasaki, Muñoz, and Joel Kelso. Jaume Masià, who ran out of time in Q2 on Saturday, was ninth.

On lap five, Scott Ogden and Matteo Bertelle also dropped out after a crash at Karthallen, turn 7 of the German circuit.

At the top of the race, Guevara had managed to open up a 0s724 margin and was now followed once again by Foggia. Suzuki, García, and Sasaki had left Holgado behind, with the rookie dropping to sixth. Moreira had been struggling to recover and was only 16th. The Brazilian is still recovering from a fractured wrist.

Shortly after, Joel Kelso crashed, but managed to get his bike up and back into the race, only in 25th place.

García also went on the attack and passed Sasaki to take third place, 0s640 behind Foggia. The Italian was still chasing Guevara, but the Spaniard's margin had exceeded one second.

Izán was riding at a strong pace, and he was getting further and further away from his rivals. With 15 laps to go in the German GP, the #28 was 1s652 ahead of Foggia, who couldn't get any closer to the Aspar driver. García, on the other hand, was closing in on his Leopard rival, trying to minimize the damage from his teammate's domination of the race at the top of the Moto3 championship.

With 11 laps to go, Guevara's margin had passed two seconds, and García was closing in on Foggia to try and snatch second place to guarantee another Aspar double in 2022. For now, however, Dennis was holding his own.

Still running at a low 1min27s, Guevara was closing in on a 3s margin to Foggia with nine laps to go. A dominant and very unusual performance by Moto3 standards.

Behind, García kept pressing Foggia, without finding a gap to launch an attack. Not only could Sergio not pass, he was also under pressure from Sasaki, Suzuki and Holgado, who were not far behind.

Further down the table, Moreira managed to pass Elia Bartolini and Stefano Nepa to take 14th place and gain at least two points in the race. The pressure wasn't over though, with Elia and Taiyo Furusato putting the Brazilian in 16th once again.

In a completely separate league, Guevara could only pull away. With five laps to go, Izán was already 4s205 ahead of Foggia, who was defending his second place from García. Ayumu Sasaki was fourth, ahead of Suzuki and Holgado. Deniz Öncü was seventh, more than six seconds behind the leading pack.

With two laps to go, Sergio finally launched an attack, but was neutralized by Foggia, who defended his second place well until the flag.
