Moto2 riders took higher temperatures on the Saschsenring track, both ambient and track temperatures. While the thermometers registered 26.6°C, the asphalt reached 47.3°C, up from 45°C in Moto3.
TL2 started with Jake Dixon in the lead and very close to the best time of the morning: 1min24s600, already giving indications that the marks would improve over the 40 minutes allocated to the session. The Aspar driver was second on the combined times, with Marcos Ramirez third, just 0s021 behind Dixon.
Lopez, the second fastest in TL1, maintained his personal best time of 1min24s643 after ten minutes of the session, which gave him a momentary fourth place on the Saschsenring track. Lorenzo Dalla Porta, only 19th in the morning, improved his lap by 1s, closing the top-5 in the first part of TL2.
In the final ten minutes, with the track more rubbery, the times began to drop, and Fernandez took the opportunity to improve even more on the first session's mark, setting a lap of 1min24s023. Pedro Acosta was second fastest, 0s470 seconds behind the leader. Fermín Aldeguer was next, dropping Dixon to fourth in the combined times.
In the final moments, Sam Lowes still had time to improve his lap and jump up to fourth. The top positions didn't change again until the flag, with Fernandez reigning supreme on the Saschsenring track.
Of the top ten fastest drivers, the only one who held on to his TL1 time as the best of the day was Alonso López. His time of 1min24s643 gave him eighth place.
