Down since his return to the World Motorcycle Championship after a sabbatical period, the Italian has made it clear that he has no interest in making a move to superbike, even though he believes he could be competitive. Italian indicated future in off-road

Andrea Dovizioso has signaled that motocross may be his post-MotoGP destination. At the age of 36, the three-time vice-champion of the premier class of the World Championship has ruled out a move to superbike and assured that he wants to put into practice a project he has in off-road.
Dovizioso returned to MotoGP in the final stretch of last season after a few months of sabbatical after leaving Ducati. The performance, however, has never been the same. Andrea still hasn't managed to get the hang of the M1 YZR-M1, and today he is only 22nd in the World Riders' Championship with ten points, 162 behind leader Fabio Quartararo.

Earlier this month, Andrea was in Misano to follow the World Superbike round, which raised rumors of a possible interest in the series. Dovi, however, assures that he is not interested in swapping prototypes for production bikes, even though he feels he can be competitive.
"Superbike has never been an option," Dovizioso said. "I'm not saying that production derivatives don't interest me, but the question remains what level of competitiveness I can express," he followed.
"I could be competitive, but given my age and my background, I'm not looking for new adventures. I have nothing to prove and at this moment I prefer to have fun," he justified.
The Italian from Forli indicated that the post-MotoGP future will be in off-road, putting in place a motocross project.
"I like motocross. It's an exciting sector, where I can give life to a project I have in mind," he added.
