Aspar's Jake Dixon stunned on the final lap to take pole for the Moto2 Dutch GP. The Aspar Briton clocked 1min36s736 on the clock to beat teammate Albert Arenas by just 0s011. It is the Englishman's second pole position of the season, as he also started from the position of honor in Indonesia.
Arenas will start from the front row in Assen together with Marc VDS' Sam Lowes, who set a time of 1min36s787. The time was identical to that of Japan's Ai Ogura, who will start third on the tiebreaker criterion: second best time.

Q1: Navarro dominates Q1 and passes with Zaccone, Gonzalez and Baltus
Jorge Navarro opened the session on a dry track at the top of the timesheet, 0s235 ahead of Manu Gonzalez. Marcos Ramirez was fourth, with Lorenzo Dalla Porta closing the list of those who had provisionally moved on to the next stage.
In the next round, Navarro improved to 1min37s285 to preserve his lead, 0s474 faster than Ramirez. Dalla Porta took third place, with Gonzalez dropping to fourth, 0s538 ahead of Simone Corsi, the first one below the Q2 cut-off line.

Navarro soon improved to 1min36s836, but ended up with his lap cancelled. Bedsneyder then turned in 1min36s919, narrowing the margin to 0s059 from pole. Lopez followed in third, now ahead of Sam Lowes, Jake Dixon, and Celestino Vietti.
The World Championship leader did not get very far in the session. With eight minutes to go, Vietti crashed at Ossebroeken turn 3, and although it was not the most spectacular of falls, he had to end Q2.
