After his bizarre mistake at the Catalunya GP, Aleix Espargaró decided to spend an 'off' weekend with his family at Disneyland in Paris

Aleix Espargaró had everything to finish the Catalunya GP, almost two weeks ago, in the second position on the podium. That was until the penultimate lap. The Granollers rider made a bizarre mistake: he thought he had already done the last lap and that the race was over when, in fact, there was still one lap to go. The result: he finished in fifth place, missing out on important points.
And what is the best way to try to clear your head and soothe your sorrows? Go to Disneyland! At least, that's what #41 did. He took advantage of the last weekend to go to the theme park in Paris with his family.
"I decided to go with my family, my wife and kids, to Disneyland in Paris, to forget about diet and training. And it worked out very well for me, I forgot what happened. It was an absurd mistake, but when you are fighting for the title everything gets bigger, like a mountain. I hope to secure good points this weekend," he said.

"It was hard to get it out of my head, on Sunday night I couldn't sleep, at the test on Monday it was hard to stay focused and on Wednesday training with the bike, which is what I like to do most, was difficult," he added.
After the race in Barcelona, Aleix explained that he was worried about Jorge Martin following him and paid more attention to the distance of the Pramac rider. He also said that there is a difference on the Spanish circuit, as "the last lap is number zero, not one," which he didn't remember at the time.
Now, at the German GP, the father of twins Mia and Max hopes for better results. Espargaró remains in second position in the championship and sees Fabio Quartararo ahead by 22 points.
"Germany has always been a good circuit for Aprilia and for me. We have been competitive in the last two seasons. Last year I fought to the end, but it started raining and I finished just two seconds off the podium. This year, with the bike we have, I think it will be a good opportunity for us, I want to have fun and do a good lap on Saturday in Q2 so I can fight for the podium on Sunday," he closed.
