Aleix Espargaró presented a more than special helmet for this weekend's Catalunya GP: a tribute to his daughter, Mia. The Catalan remembered the five-year-old girl's battle for life and made the shell not only a tribute to her, but also to the doctors who performed a series of heart surgeries on her at birth.
Max's twin, Mia was born with a congenital heart condition and had to undergo a minor operation as soon as she was born. Three years ago, Aleix and Laura's daughter underwent another operation, this time permanent.

The pink helmet features Mia's name printed on the back, with rhinestones, as well as Aleix's 41 and a big heart in reference to the clinic where she was treated. The piece also bears the dedication: "To Mia, my warrior, my inspiration.
"Here is my special edition helmet for the home GP," Aleix wrote on social media. "Five years ago, at birth, the heroes of CorAll Family operated on her heart several times. Today, she is my greatest strength, and this is a great way to honor her and all the doctors who took care of her and continue to do so," he added.
