Tony Kanaan once again proved to be one of the best drivers on the planet racing on oval circuits. The Bahian, who defends Texaco Racing in Stock Car racing, finished third in the Indianapolis 500, the most important race in the United States, which had its 106th edition disputed on Sunday (29), closing a sequence of three weekends on the track started with a fourth place in the national category, in Mogi Guaçu (SP).

Tony Kanaan once again proved to be one of the best drivers on the planet racing on oval circuits. The Bahian, who drives for Texaco Racing in the Stock Car Series, finished third in the Indianapolis 500, the most important race in the United States, which had its 106th edition disputed on Sunday (29), closing a sequence of three weekends on the track started with a fourth place in the national category, in Mogi Guaçu (SP).
Since he arrived in the United States to compete in the Indy 500, Kanaan has shown strength, always being among the fastest in free practice. A week before the race, he was sixth on the grid among 33 competitors, and led the Carb Day two days before the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
In the race, Kanaan was patient, not staying in the top six for almost 400 miles, only going on the attack in the final part of the race, when he moved into third position. In a restart on lap 199, Tony still sought the overtaking that would be worth the second conquest of the race, of which he won in 2013, but he finished with a third place that, he guarantees, was worth as a victory.
"It was a super-productive weekend, we've been doing well all month. We missed a little bit, but it's a third place that feels like a victory. I hope to be back here next year to try to take the 500 miles," said Kanaan.
After the end of another Indy 500, Tony Kanaan turns his attention to Stock Car racing, where he will race with the Texaco Racing Toyota Corolla on July 2-3, at Velopark, in Nova Santa Rita (RS).
