Rossi praises Andretti's race pace in Indianapolis: "We just need to execute".

Alexander Rossi was a strong candidate to start from the pole-position at the Indianapolis GP 2, but the Andretti driver will settle for second position on the grid. In Friday's qualifying session, Rossi's time was 0s277 slower than that of McLaren's Felix Rosenqvist.

In an interview with NBCSN, Rossi celebrated his second place on the grid, which is his best qualifying result in the mixed race at Indianapolis. In the previous race held at the circuit in May, Alexander started 16th and finished 11th.

"I'm happy that the distance is that, we missed a few tenths, but it was a great effort by Felix. Congratulations to him. This is the best result we have had here as a team. We had a test here last month, happy that we translated that into a result. I thank the team for today and let's see what's in store for us tomorrow. We've always run well here, it's just that qualifying has never been ideal," he declared.

Rossi led the only free practice of the condensed weekend in Indianapolis. The drivers' last chance to drive before the race will be in Saturday morning's warm-up, and Alexander is confident of the race pace to break a three-year winless streak at Indy.

"I think the race pace is excellent, we just need to execute," he added.
