Felix Rosenqvist thwarted the favoritism of Penske and Andretti to steal the pole position for the Indianapolis GP 2. With problems, championship leader Marcus Ericsson will start from last place

The Swedish Felix Rosenqvist took the pole-position of the Indianapolis GP 2. In the qualifying session held on Friday (29), the McLaren driver clocked 1min10s226 to take his second pole position of the 2022 season, since he also started from the pole position in Texas, at the beginning of the season.
The leader of the only free practice, Andretti's Alexander Rossi flirted with pole, but will start from second position, separating the McLaren cars, as Mexican Pato O'Ward will start from third.
Penske's Australian Will Power will start fourth, followed by teammate Josef Newgarden. The Fast Six was also attended by RLL's Christian Lundgaard.
Current champion Álex Palou is the best Ganassi driver on the grid, starting seventh, side by side with Carpenter's Dutchman Rinus VeeKay. Colton Herta, the last Indianapolis mixed winner with Andretti, and Conor Daly, also of Carpenter, round out the top-10.
Brazilian Helio Castroneves failed to advance from the first segment of qualifying and will start 16th. The Meyer Shank driver's time was 1min10s756. New Zealand's six-time champion Scott Dixon of Ganassi also failed to advance to Q1, and will start 20th.
Championship leader Marcus Ericsson will be forced to start from last position on Sunday. The Swede from Ganassi had a mechanical problem shortly after leaving the pits and stopped at turn 5, unable to advance to the second segment of the qualifying session.
The GP of Indianapolis 2 is scheduled to start at 13:00 (GMT-3) on Saturday. GRANDE PRÊMIO will provide complete coverage. The race will be broadcast by TV Cultura on free-to-air channels, ESPN4 on pay TV, and Star+ on streaming.
