Rain delays the start of third free practice for the Indianapolis 500

Rain delayed the start of the third free practice session for the 2022 Indianapolis 500 on Wednesday (18). The session was scheduled to start at 1 pm (EST) and Indy has not yet released a new time for the start of the heat.

In the first practice for this year's Indy 500, Scott Dixon was fastest in the morning with Ganassi. In the afternoon session, Japan's two-time Indy 500 champion Takuma Sato led a Honda quartet after overtaking Dixon in the final moments of TL2.

This is not the first time that rain has disrupted a session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2022. During the practice sessions back in April, the two days of practice sessions started after the scheduled time due to bad weather.

Indy will still have two more days of practice on Thursday and Friday before qualifying, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday. The 106th edition of the Indy 500 is scheduled for May 29.
