After postponing indefinitely the start of the third free practice session for the Indianapolis 500 on Wednesday afternoon, the Indy decided to cancel for good the second day of activities at the Brickyard

The third free practice session for the Indianapolis 500 has been canceled due to inclement weather at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After postponing indefinitely the start of the second day of activities due to rain, Indy decided to cancel the session that was scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET.
In the first practice for this year's Indy 500, Scott Dixon was fastest in the morning with Ganassi. In the afternoon session, Japanese two-time Indy 500 champion Takuma Sato led a Honda quartet after overtaking Dixon in the final moments of TL2.

This is not the first time that rain disrupts a session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2022. During group testing back in April, the two days of practice sessions started after the scheduled time due to bad weather.
Indy returns this Thursday at 1 p.m. ET for its second day of practice, and has one more session on Friday, Fast Friday, before qualifying, which takes place this Saturday and Sunday (May 21 and 22). The 106th edition of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for May 29.
