Porto takes first Pro 2000 win in race 2 at Mid-Ohio

Brazilian Kiko Porto took the lead in race 2 of the Indy Pro 2000 on the first lap and held off pressure from Louis Foster to win for the first time in the category

Brazilian Kiko Porto won for the first time in his Indy Pro 2000 career in race 2 on Saturday afternoon (2). Starting in second position, the DE Force driver overtook pole position driver Louis Foster, of Exclusive Autosports, in the first lap and held off the British driver until the end to win his first victory in the category.

Pabst's Yuven Sundaramoorthy completed the podium in the second race. Enaan Ahmed, Salvador de Alba, Reece Gold, Nolan Siegel, Braden Eves, Josh Green, and Jordan Missig completed the top ten in the race.

"What a special moment! We had a rough start to the season, but we never stopped believing. Road America was difficult for us, so we made a series of changes to the car and the result came, with a lot of hard work and effort, so I want to say a big thank you to my team, DEForce Racing. It was on this podium at this track last year that I won the USF2000 title, and I can say that coming back to Mid-Ohio and getting my first Indy Pro 2000 victory here is very special," said Porto.

This was Kiko's best result in Pro 2000, as he had never even won a podium in the category. Until then, the Brazilian, who is the current USF2000 champion, had three fourth places as best results.

With the victory, Porto now occupies the seventh position in the classification, with 195 points. Louis Foster, who won race 1 at Mid-Ohio, leads with 282 points, 49 more than Reece Gold. Indy Pro 2000 returns on July 16 and 17 for the Toronto round.
