McLaren has announced that Felix Rosenqvist will remain with the team after 2023, but has not yet specified whether the Swede will continue on the IndyCar Series grid or be part of the Formula E driver duo

McLaren announced on Thursday (23) the permanence of Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist in its squad from 2023 on, but without specifying in which category. The team is still evaluating whether he will remain in the Indy program, of which he has been part since 2021, or whether he will represent the Woking brand in Formula E, a category in which he also has a strong resume.
Rosenqvist made his Indy debut in 2019 for Ganassi, where he claimed a victory at Elkhart Lake in the 2020 season. He transferred to McLaren in 2021, where he had a low-profile year, marked by a strong accident in Detroit. In the current season, he is eighth in the Drivers' Championship, with 203 points.
"I am happy to announce that I will be with McLaren for 2023 onwards. With the team expanding into Formula E next season, it brings new opportunities in the United States and Europe, and I look forward to announcing my plans in the coming weeks," Felix said.

For Formula E, Rosenqvist arrived at Mahindra in the 2016-17 season, when he finished the championship in third position. He also competed in the 2017-18 season and the first stage of the 2018-19 season, when he terminated his contract to compete in Indy. In total, there were 3 wins for Felix in the electric category.
"I loved my time with McLaren at Indy driving the 7 car, we had some great times together, including taking pole at Texas this year, and fourth place in the Indy 500. I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to explore new options to utilize my experience and help McLaren start 2023 as strong as possible," he concluded.
For 2023, McLaren has already confirmed Pato O'Ward and Alexander Rossi as drivers at Indy. The team's debut in Formula E has not yet had a pair confirmed.
