Juncos announces contract renewal with Ilott for 2023 Indy season

Juncos Hollinger announced on Thursday (28) that it has reached an agreement with Callum Ilott. The Brit signed a multi-year deal and remains with the team after receiving inquiries from some of Indy's top teams. Ilott celebrated the deal and was excited about the team's growth in the category.

"After seeing the results we've been able to deliver at Juncos for most of the year and the work being done behind the scenes by Ricardo [Juncos] and Brad [Hollinger] to improve over the next few years, it made sense to stay with the team and keep building," Ilott said.

"The potential we've shown as a team with one car can only get better as we grow and expand this program. I'm super happy to continue working with everyone at Juncos - we've created a great foundation together this season. Everyone's effort and the working environment is incredible. Looking from where we started a year ago to where we are now, I'm confident that we will have more success together," concluded the 23-year-old.

Runner-up in Formula 2 in 2020, Ilott did three races with the team at the end of 2021 before shifting his focus definitively from Formula 1 to the American category. The Briton has qualified in the top 12 at all mixed circuits so far, and has an eighth place finish at Indianapolis GP 1 as his best result.

"In 2021, I took the time to choose our driver from a list of five," said JHR co-owner Ricardo Juncos. "Even when Callum was not on the radar of most teams here in the United States, I knew he would be perfect for our team. Not only for his potential as a driver, but for his personality and desire to win, which align with our team philosophy," he continued.

"Today, almost a year later, I am pleased to confirm Callum's continuation with the team for the long term. The last three races of the 2021 season to the great results we have had so far this year show that we were right to choose him as our driver," Juncos concluded.

Juncos Hollinger plans to have a second car for the 2023 season, but has not yet confirmed the expansion. Ilott is currently 21st in the IndyCar Series standings, which returns this Saturday for the Indianapolis GP 2.
