Indy Pro 2000: Kiko Porto projects improvement at Mid-Ohio

Kiko Porto probably had his most challenging weekend in the Indy Pro 2000 season. The driver, the only Brazilian driver in the Road to Indy categories, had good results in the free practice sessions, but suffered with the car's performance in the races disputed at the Road America circuit, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, taking 14th and 12th places in the races.

In both races, the reigning USF2000 champion jumped well at the start, placing sixth in the first race of the weekend. His performance, however, began to drop in the final half of the race, preventing good results. Despite not having the desired performance, Kiko was optimistic for the next round, at Mid-Ohio, since DEForce Racing will make a major revision to find a solution for the car.

"As everything that happens in life has a good side, the team will make radical changes in the car thinking about Mid-Ohio. In one of the corners this weekend, with the foot down, we lost 5 km/h in relation to our rivals, so there must be some problem in the car that will be found by the team in the revision that will be done", explained Kiko, who is sponsored by Banco Daycoval.

"As in some rounds, we start the weekend well, with a good performance in practice and qualifying, but the car doesn't have the same good performance in the race. I even started well at Road America, getting overtaking passes, but some problem happened and I couldn't keep up the pace," added Porto.

The Mid-Ohio round of the Indy Pro 2000 is scheduled for July 2nd and 3rd, at the Lexington circuit.
