Ganassi announced on Tuesday (12) that Álex Palou will continue as a driver for the 2023 Indy season. The Spaniard was even probed by McLaren, which is still looking for a name for its third car next year, but quickly dismissed the possibility of changing teams.

Chip Ganassi's team exercised a contractual option to keep the reigning Indy champion on its driver roster, and hopes to maintain the status quo for 2023. "Álex's track record speaks for itself. He has already proven himself as a great champion and is one of the most formidable drivers in the world. We are very excited to continue working together," Chip said in a statement released to the press.

Palou is currently in his second season with Ganassi. In 2021, he won the team's 14th title and became the first Spaniard to win Indy. This season, the 25-year-old driver is in fourth position, 35 points behind teammate Marcus Ericsson, and has accumulated four podiums in nine races.

"It's a great feeling to know that I'll be back with Ganassi next season. The team has welcomed me with open arms since day one, and I'm excited to continue working with Chip, Mike Hull, the team in the #10 car, and everyone in the organization. The goals remain the same and we will continue to work tirelessly to achieve them," said Álex.

Palou will look for his first win in 2022 this Sunday (17) at the Toronto GP, which returns to the Indy calendar after two years away due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This will be his first participation in the race, which will be covered by GRANDE PRÊMIO.
