Ericsson sees advantage to Newgarden drop after Saturday in Iowa. Check out the standings
Marcus Ericsson held on to Indy's lead after race 1 in Iowa, but lead for new second-place Josef Newgarden plummeted
Ninth place in the Iowa 1 Indy Grand Prix, Swede Marcus Ericsson of Ganassi is still the championship leader, but his lead has been reduced. If the owner of the #8 car had a 35-point lead over Will Power after the Toronto GP, he now sees Penske's Josef Newgarden in second, just 15 centimeters behind.
Newgarden won in Iowa, earning his fourth win of the season, which saw the 2017 and 2019 champion gain two positions in the standings, overtaking teammate Power and also defending champion Álex Palou. Six-time champion Scott Dixon held on to fifth.

In the championship top-10, the only major change compared to the post-Toronto scenario was the growth of Alexander Rossi. The American from Andretti swapped positions with Sweden's Felix Rosenqvist, from McLaren. Now one is 9th and the other is 11th.
Race 2 of the IndyCar Series in Iowa is scheduled for 4:00 pm (GMT -3) on Sunday, with full coverage byGRANDE PRÊMIOand broadcast to Brazil on TV Cultura, ESPN and Star+.
