Kiko Porto closed the weekend in the best possible way: the driver from Pernambuco took his first victory in the Indy Pro 2000, Road To Indy's intermediate category. After showing a strong pace in practice, always among the three fastest drivers, he qualified in the first rows of the starting grid in both races of the weekend and ended the round with his first victory.

"What a special moment! We had a rough start to the season, but we never stopped believing. Road America was difficult for us, so we made a series of changes to the car and the result came, with a lot of work and effort, so I want to say a big thank you to my team, DEForce Racing," said Kiko Porto, who is sponsored by Banco Daycoval.

"It was on this podium, on this track last year that I won the USF2000 title, and I can say that coming back to Mid-Ohio and winning my first Indy Pro 2000 victory here is very special," added Porto, who became the USF2000 champion in 2021.

Even with plenty of race pace, the Brazilian driver from DEForce Racing believes that this was a very challenging race.

"I started from second position and we knew that a good start was essential to put us in contention for the win. That's what I did, and I worked hard throughout the race to keep my car in the right position, without giving way to the second-placed driver, who was also moving at a strong pace. The pressure was there, but I focused in my race, always trying to brake afterwards and have good corner exits, 25 laps later, the victory came", analyzed Kiko.

The Indy Pro 2000 will be back on the track between July 15th and 17th in the streets of Toronto, Canada.
