Without victory in 2022, Vergne regrets another frustration in Jakarta: "We have to understand

Jean-Èric Vergne has yet to win in the 2022 Formula E season, despite scoring in every race. However, the two-time champion is confident that his streak will end this year

Jean-Èric Vergne had everything to win the Jakarta eP when he secured pole-position last Saturday (4), but once again his first win of the season slipped through his fingers. An overtake by Mitch Evans in the final part of the race cost the two-time champion the victory, who once again regretted the fact that he had not yet won in 2022. However, the Frenchman was calm about the drought and is confident that it will end this year.

"We have to improve the management of the battery temperature," said Vergne, "The competition is very tough. It was not possible to win this season. We have to understand what is happening, why. We will keep pushing, and at some point we will win," he is confident.

Vergne managed to beat teammate Antonio Felix da Costa in the final heat to secure pole position in the race, but saw the Portuguese driver make a mistake during the race that allowed Evans to overtake. Pressured by the Jaguar driver, the DS Techeetah owner held off his rival for some time, but was unable to resist the New Zealander's strategy at the end - who had more batteries at that moment - and had to settle for second place.

Despite the frustration of having missed another opportunity to win - his last one was in Rome, in the third race of last season -, Vergne argued that he still has time to break the deadlock, since Formula E still has seven races to go until the championship closes in August.

"Yes, there are still a lot of races to go," he opined. "We are still on the podium, we got good points. That's what we need, and we'll keep pushing," he closed.

After the eagerly awaited Formula E debut in Jakarta, the category will not be back on the track until next month. The eP Marrakech, back on the calendar replacing Vancouver, Canada, is scheduled to take place on July 2 and will be the last single-race event of the season.
