Sette Câmara says Dragon "can't keep up" with Formula E pace: "I couldn't do anything".

After one more race dragging at the bottom of the grid with an inferior equipment, Sérgio Sette Câmara resigned himself and admitted that the Dragon car failed to offer competitiveness again in Jakarta

Sette Câmara says Dragon "can't keep up" with Formula E pace: "I couldn't do anything".

In the first race in the history of Formula E in Jakarta, the Dragon storyline of the season repeated itself. With a car far below the other competitors on the grid, the team once again dragged throughout the race and finished with Sérgio Sette Câmara in the last position - Antonio Giovinazzi abandoned after trying a kamikaze strategy and running out of battery. After another negative result, the Brazilian showed discouragement after weeks of work seeking some improvement.

"We dedicated ourselves a lot to be more competitive in Jakarta," Sette Câmara said after the race in Indonesia. "We did a great preparation work at the team's headquarters, but unfortunately, the results don't always reflect all the energy we dedicated," he regretted.

With a greater need to save battery power than other teams in the category, the Dragon car's low energy efficiency prevents any competitiveness with other drivers. Once again, Sette Câmara needed to save energy during the race to at least reach the flag, even if in the 19th place - last among those who finished the race.

"We used all possible options in the search for improvement in performance, but unfortunately our car did not keep up with the pace of the others and, with that, I could do nothing but finish the race," he resigned. "With our heads held high, we will study all the data we gathered in this round, compare it with the information from the other rounds, and look for an efficient solution for the final stretch of the championship," he added.

To get an idea of Dragon's difficulty regarding the use of the battery, an example is the strategy used by Giovinazzi in Jakarta. After running into Sette Câmara right after the start and spinning, the Italian preferred to stay at the bottom of the grid, without reaching the other competitors - just recovering energy, waiting for a safety-car that never came.

When he finally accelerated to catch the second-to-last placed car, Giovinazzi had no more than 8% less battery than the car in front. Without the energy to make it to the end of the race, he returned the car to the pits and abandoned the race.

Dragon's next opportunity to test a configuration to help its drivers will be next month. The Marrakech eP, which is back on the calendar to replace Vancouver, Canada, is scheduled to take place on July 2, and marks the last single-race weekend of the season.
