Porsche has finally released the first images of its Gen3 car, which is scheduled to debut in the upcoming Formula E season. Pascal Wehrlein was responsible for taking part in the first tests with the single-seater last Wednesday (8), outside the team's factory in Weissach, and recorded his first impressions aboard the new car.

"This was a very interesting day and I had an amazing experience driving our new Gen3 car for the first time," said an excited Wehrlein. "It felt great and I'm excited to test its full power soon. My initial impressions were also very good and left me hungry for more," he added.

Besides the different design, the Gen3 cars promise to be the fastest in the history of the category, and lighter than the current single-seaters. In addition, it will be the first electric car in the sport to carry the power train in the front and rear, unlike what happens until this year.

The car model was built by Spark Racing Technologies, the same company involved in the conception of the Gen2 - and founded by Frenchman Frédéric Vasseur, Alfa Romeo's boss in Formula 1. The batteries, meanwhile, will once again be supplied by Williams' engineering division, which was once involved in manufacturing the parts with the Gen1 car before seeing McLaren take over for Gen2.

Finally, the powertrains will be supplied by the manufacturing teams themselves - DS, Porsche, Mahindra, NIO, Nissan, and Jaguar. Maserati, although considered a factory team, will use an engine provided by DS because the two teams belong to the Stellantis Group, and will not receive a test car like the other suppliers.

As for the future of Porsche, the team's driver duo will be different next year. Pascal Wehrlein will stay, but André Lotterer will leave the team and António Félix da Costa - currently with DS Techeetah, which will be without DS support next year - will arrive to take the place left by the German.

Formula E will only return next month, with the eP Marrakech race - which is back on the calendar, replacing Vancouver, Canada - scheduled to take place on July 2.
