Edoardo Mortara took a big win in the eP of Marrakech to take the top spot in the Formula E Drivers' World Championship at a crucial moment in the championship
The eP Marrakech, held this Saturday (2) in Morocco, determined a new leader in the Formula E Drivers' World Championship. Edoardo Mortara crossed the finish line in first position and moved up two steps in the standings, climbing from third place directly to the lead with 139 points. Former leader Stoffel Vandoorne swapped positions with the Swiss driver and is now third with 125 points.
Between the two drivers is Jean-Éric Vergne, who remains in contention for the title even without a single victory in the championship.He added another 12 points on Saturday with fourth place - he opened the last lap in third, but lost the last place on the podium to Evans before the flag.

Speaking of the Jaguar driver, Mitch stayed in fourth place, but shortened the distance to the first place: with 124 points, he is only one behind Vandoorne and four below Vergne - which leaves the fight wide open, especially with three double rounds to go until the championship closes.
The race in Marrakech also served to change a few positions in the top-10. While Robin Frijns remains fifth with 81 - in yet another race without points - António Félix da Costa made the biggest leap in the table: reached 75 points and went from tenth directly to sixth place, leaving no less than four competitors behind: Pascal Wehrlein, André Lotterer, Lucas Di Grassi and Nyck de Vries - who became seventh with 73 points.
Finally, the two Porsche drivers were overtaken by Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi, who added 11 points with his fifth place - and fastest lap - to reach 66. André Lotterer is ninth with 59, while Pascal Wehrlein is now tenth, with 55 points.
