After another podium in Formula E, this time in Jakarta, Edoardo Mortara praised Venturi's strategy that allowed the Swiss driver to take third place in the category's debut in Indonesia
Edoardo Mortara managed to gain one position throughout the eP Jakarta race last Saturday, enough for the Venturi driver to finish yet another race on the podium. Behind winner Mitch Evans and second place Jean-Èric Vergne, the Swiss driver remains in the fight for the category title - which is getting closer in the final stretch of the season.
After the race, Mortara celebrated the work done by Venturi both in qualifying and in the race, with good results in both. Despite having won his first pole position in Formula E this year, Edoardo shows a high level of fast laps and has always been able to place himself among the leaders. In Jakarta, it was no different.
"Yes, everything went well. It was a positive day for us," Mortara celebrated. "Qualifying was good, we started fourth, we were able to get the most out of the car both in qualifying and in the race and we ran a smart, strategic race," he stressed.

In the final stretch of the race, while Evans did everything to hold off Vergne, it was possible to see that Mortara had a little more energy in the battery than the competitors ahead of him. The Swiss just waited for a race that would benefit him, but it didn't happen and he preferred to secure the 15 points for third place.
"I had a little more energy at the end than the two leaders ahead of me who were fighting," admitted Lucas Di Grassi's teammate. "But I couldn't take advantage of that and I thought it was smart to stay where I was to get the podium points," he revealed.
Finally, informed that he reached the flag with his battery completely zeroed, Mortara pointed out that the drivers' objective is precisely to manage the charge in an intelligent way, so as to have the battery to be competitive during the race but arrive at the end with energy to cross the finish line.
"That is the goal. In Formula E, we need to, as you said, extract all the energy from the battery," he said. "At the end, you want to teminate with 0.0%. And you also need to manage the battery temperature perfectly. We started losing performance on the battery at 72 degrees and we got to that limit. So it was a perfectly executed race," he closed.
