Formula E is getting ready to finally implement Gen3 cars starting next season, and the teams have already taken to the track with their models to start the testing phase

Formula E will see the introduction of the new Gen3 cars next season, starting next year, and the grid teams are already busy conducting the first tests with the single-seater that will debut in the category. But how are these tests conducted? With the teams divided into two groups - the British and the European teams - two test sessions are held at two different locations.
In addition, all supplying teams receive a 'bonus' of eight extra days of testing if they have an agreement with another grid team to supply their powertrain. This is how Nick Cassidy has already been able to test with the Jaguar car, which has a supply agreement with Envision for next year.

Within these eight extra days, however, four of them must necessarily be dedicated to the client team - which is entitled to use the same car, the same battery level and the same conditions as its supplier.
As such, the teams already started the test rounds last week, with all the grid suppliers - DS, Nissan, Porsche, Mahindra, Jaguar, and NIO - taking their cars to the track. In this first phase, the main objective will be to understand more about the new powertrain, which will be present both at the rear and front of the car, and the new Hankook tires - until this season, the compounds are Michelin.
