FIA Director for Formula E, Frédéric Bertrand said the category is considering implementing a revamped version of the mechanism - with changes "perhaps in activation, perhaps in the way of creating a strategy.
Formula E is going through a period of changing course on the eve of the expected Gen3 Era. After the category set up tests with recharging equipment and opened up the possibility of returning with pit-stops as early as 2023, the trend now is that, one way or another, FE will keep 'attack mode' when the new Gen3 ruleset enters next season - but in a revamped way.
"For the future and for Gen3, for sure, the way we will manage the pit-stop will be a key topic and it will probably be more linked to power activation and giving more power. We will also work on how we have to implement attack mode, but more on a 2.0 version," Frédéric Bertrand, FIA director for Formula E, told The Race.

Introduced at the start of the Gen2 era in 2019, the mechanism should - therefore - undergo a change in its use. The 'attack mode 2.0' will have to work in conjunction with such pit-stops, at a certain period of the races - which should be 45 minutes plus one lap.
"The way we will implement it and the way we will create the entertainment around this part of the race is something we need to keep innovative and a little bit different from what we currently have," said Bertrand. "But we will try to keep it the best and we will try to improve what can be improved in the attack mode. Maybe the activation, maybe the way of creating a strategy around the mechanism," he added.
"But still keeping the attack mode as part of the show for the fans and also for the drivers, because I think everybody now really likes the attack mode and that part of the race. So it will definitely stay, in what exact form we will have to define in the coming weeks," the FIA Director for Formula E concluded.
The next round of Formula E marks the category's debut in Jakarta, Indonesia, and will be held this Saturday.
