It only took two straight wins in the main races - in England and Austria - for Logan Sargeant to jump to second place in the 2022 F2 Drivers' World Championship standings, 39 points behind Felipe Drugovich. And the American believes that the balance seen in the last rounds shows that there is still more to achieve with Carlin this year.

Sargeant scored points in the last seven races held, having achieved, besides the victories, the second place in the main race in Baku. In the last race he was still lucky, as the two drivers who crossed the finish line at the Red Bull Ring ahead of him were punished - Richard Verschoor for not having enough fuel for post-race analysis, and Jehan Daruvala for irregularities before the start.

"Obviously Drugovich is miles ahead at this point, but as you know, things can change very quickly," the driver told the category's official website. "I think we are at a very good point in the championship. Every weekend is a challenge, and it's very exciting because I feel the potential we had throughout this year. And Carlin has done a great job, giving me a car that is capable of being at the front. We have to continue what we are doing to keep the progress of the last rounds", he pointed out.

Competing in the full F2 season this year after three years in F3, Sargeant took a quick look at what he can improve on to further close the gap on Drugovich: starting further ahead on the grid. "Normally, qualifying is my strong suit, but it's not working this year. I believe it's because we're riding on tracks I don't know very well, so I hope to overcome that, which I believe I will do, be more consistent and make fewer mistakes."

He also said that "it's always harder to be a rookie," mainly because of the pressure that the drivers themselves put on you. "Everyone hopes to be able to win, and that's what we hope to do," the Williams Driver Academy member stressed.

Sargeant added that the F2 year has been one of learning, but he feels increasingly comfortable with the car. "I always expect a lot from myself, and I expect to be at the front, no doubt about it. I really didn't set a goal for this year. The main thing was to maximize each round in the best way possible, which I haven't done completely yet. It's a rollercoaster championship for everyone," he concluded.
