As happens a lot in F2, the post-race 1 of the Austrian stage also had punishments, with Ayumu Iwasa leaving the top-8 and Enzo Fittipaldi adding 1 more point to the 2022 season on Saturday (9th).

Iwasa was punished for throwing Logan Sargeant out of contention already in the final stages of the race at the Red Bull Ring, and with 5s added to his final race time, he left the points zone and finished 10th. Sargeant was seventh, with Fittipaldi moving up to eighth, the last place that earns a bonus in the sprint race.

The post-race also saw the acquittal of Théo Pourchaire, in the decision that was the most expected of the commissioners thinking about the championship. The Frenchman was being investigated for exceeding the track limit four times, which would have automatically led to punishment. But the commissioners understood that two of the occasions happened at the same time, that is, they were the result of an error in the warning system.

Thus, Pourchaire kept his second place, reducing the disadvantage to Felipe Drugovich in the championship classification. And the sprint podium remains intact: Marcus Armstrong, Pourchaire, and Jack Doohan, with Drugovich and Jüri Vips rounding out the top five.

With the point inherited from Iwasa's punishment, Fittipaldi reached 57 points in the championship, in ninth place overall. The Brazilian is responsible for all the Charouz points in 2022.
