Sponsorship is always a challenge in the life of the Brazilian drivers that are at the base, and Felipe Drugovich believes that what is missing is initiative from the entrepreneurs themselves

Felipe Drugovich knows that the road to Formula 1 has stages that do not depend only on his talent, and one of them is a challenge for most drivers who are in the basic categories: sponsorship. The Brazilian - who leads the 2022 F2 World Championship, considered the last step before the elite of motorsports - was asked by GRANDE PRÊMIO about what is missing for the investment to really appear and was quite categorical.

"Look, I think it's the good will of the companies, in the end," he evaluated. "The Brazilian, nowadays, is very much in need of a driver in F1, and, in a certain way, it seems to me that they [sponsors] are waiting for someone to get there to really help, and that's not how it happens," he stressed.
"I think that's the biggest reason. We can also blame the situation in the country, which is not very good, but I think there are still many companies in condition to help, and this is not happening," Drugovich added.
Focused first in the current F2 championship, the MP driver doesn't hide that F1 is, without a doubt, a dream, but he is quite realistic about it. And GP wanted to know what Drugovich thinks about other categories within motorsports.
"There are many options outside F1, I believe that the WEC [World Endurance Championship], with the new Hypercar category, will open doors for several drivers who did well, but couldn't get into F1. Maybe Indy, maybe Formula E, I think there are many categories that you can really live from that and be a professional driver, but for now I prefer not to think about that", he closed.
The last part of the interview with Felipe Drugovich will be aired at 6pm on the GRANDE PRÊMIO YouTube channel 1.
