Felipe Drugovich scored a total of 19 points in the French round of F2 and maintained his 39-point lead. But the second place is now Théo Pourchaire again, as Logan Sargeant came away with a zero in the main race at Paul Ricard.
For Felipe Drugovich, the F2 round in France ended the same way it started: with the MP driver in the lead, 39 points ahead of the second-placed driver. The difference, however, is that it was again Théo Pourchaire, who reassumed the vice-leader position after climbing to the podium in second place in the main race, held this Sunday (24) in Paul Ricard.
Pourchaire scored 20 points in total - two in the sprint race and 18 in the main race - to 134 in the standings. The Frenchman had lost second place to Logan Sargeant, but saw his Carlin rival drop out of the main race and leave the double round with only the point he earned from eighth place on Saturday.
Sargeant therefore had to settle for third place in the standings with 116 points. But he is still in contention, as only 18 points separate him from the ART driver.
Jehan Daruvala had a quiet weekend, but managed to stay fourth in the standings. The Indian Prema driver scored 14 points, bringing his total to 94. Liam Lawson, on the other hand, had a very positive balance thanks to his victory in the sprint race. The Carlin driver went from 10th to fifth place and now has 79 points - one less than Jack Doohan, who is sixth.
Enzo Fittipaldi, who has been achieving good results with the modest Charouz, didn't have the best of weekends. The Brazilian driver didn't score points in the sprint race and lost five positions on the grid of the main race, starting only 19th. Still, he fought hard and left Paul Ricard with a point, but fell to 7th in the table.
Frederik Vesti, who was on the podium on Sunday, added 19 points and jumped from 11th to eighth in the standings. The ART driver is three points ahead of Ayumu Iwasa, who won for the first time in F2 and jumped up the table. With his 72 points, the Japanese driver has now entered the top-10.
Marcus Armstrong didn't score in France and dropped in the overall classification. The Hitech driver went from sixth to tenth, remaining with 69 points.
Formula 2 is back on track next weekend with the Hungarian round, the 10th of the season. GRANDE PRÊMIO is following all the activities of the 2022 F2 season.
