After an underwhelming season with Virtuosi in 2021, Felipe Drugovich was considering options other than F2. That's when MP offered a contract to resume the partnership with the Brazilian in the category

Felipe Drugovich's 2022 season in Formula 2 almost didn't happen. After a less than expected 2021 with Virtuosi, the Brazilian told GRANDE PRÊMIO that he considered other paths, but decided to accept the invitation to return to the team he defended in his debut year in the category, MP. And little did he know that he would start a partnership that has shown to be very consistent in the beginning of the year.
Drugovich said he never expected to reach the end of the sixth round with a 49-point lead. "Actually, I didn't even expect to do a third year in F2. At the end of the second year, we thought about other opportunities, and MP came up with this opportunity to sign with them for a third year," he told GP.

Since the debut in F2 in 2017, MP's best result was the 2020 season, when he finished the championship in sixth place with 167 points - coincidentally, the year in which the Brazilian defended the Dutch team, winning three times.
"I think the main difference from 2020 to here is the experience, mine and the team's," Drugovich added. "I am a much more complete driver, speed is the thing I have gained the least from there to here. I think I gained much more consistency, experience and maturity than speed," he evaluated.
The period with Virtuosi, even though it had its ups and downs, was important for the pilot's growth. Today, Drugovich celebrates the partnership with the Dutch team and also presents himself as an important part of this growth seen in the current F2 season.
"We can 'predict' a little more what is going to happen on the weekends. For example, you go to a race and say 'here, we are going to use such and such a compound, and this compound on this track will do such and such a thing,' so in this way we need to prevent tire wear. It is in this kind of thing that I can help the team in the best way and also pass on the information that I had last year. I still don't consider our team the best, but I think we have been very consistent," he finished.
The second part of the interview with Felipe Drugovich will be aired at 6 PM on the GRANDE PRÊMIO YouTube channel 1. The first video can be seen by clicking here.
