Zhou Guanyu says the halo on his Alfa Romeo car saved him in the heavy crash at the start of the British GP.

The Chinese driver confirmed that he is "fine" after flipping over at high speed, going through the gravel pit upside down, and hitting the protective fence.

Zhou required immediate medical attention when the red flag was shown, but his team soon confirmed that he was fine.

After being released by the medical team at Silverstone, Zhou stated that he was fine and thanked the halo for not suffering any serious injuries.

"I'm fine, all right. The halo saved me today. Thank you all for your kind messages!" he declared.

Alex Albon, who was involved in a separate incident on the first lap, was also taken to the medical center and later transferred to Coventry hospital for "precautionary tests."
