The Chinese said it is necessary to wait for the updates to get back to fighting at the top of the intermediate Formula 1 peloton, but still wants to understand the performance of the race in France
Guanyu Zhou expects a more competitive Alfa Romeo in Hungary, even though he knows that the mission now is to survive waiting for updates. The Chinese man, however, considers that the team will "be fine" in Hungaroring.
Neither Zhou nor Valtteri Bottas managed to score in Sunday's French GP (24), but the rookie hopes for better luck in F1's next stop. In addition, Guanyu awaits the updates to the car, since, unlike Alpine and McLaren, Alfa Romeo did not introduce changes and ended up lagging behind in the fight for the middle class.
"The corners are a bit slower than here and the speed is a bit slower, so hopefully we'll be okay, but obviously we won't have many upgrades in Hungary," Zhou said. "Looking at the other teams, it's more a matter of trying to survive where we are and with what we have and wait for the next update to get back to the front of the middle pack, but I think we'll be okay," he followed.
"Here, in terms of speed in qualifying, it was better than in Austria, but in the race we went in the opposite direction, so we need to understand," he closed.
