Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has expressed his support for Sebastian Vettel to stay in Formula One. The four-time champion's contract with Aston Martin ends this year, but he has already started negotiations to extend it and indicated his desire to continue in the championship.

Wolff pointed out that, besides being close to Vettel's family, he also understands that it would be a loss to the sport to lose a mind like the German's. The former Toro Rosso, Red Bull, and Ferrari driver has been an active voice in defense of environmental causes, in addition to publicly defending the rights of the LGBTQIA+ population.

"It would be a shame if we lost another outspoken and intelligent mind. We have very few of those in Formula One," Wolff said in an interview with Austrian broadcaster NTV. "Our families are friends and I value his opinion very much," he commented.

"We talk more about God and the world, the environment, family, and education than we do about sports," he added.

Formula 1 returns next weekend, July 29-31, with the Hungarian Grand Prix, which closes the first part of the championship. GRANDE PRÊMIO follows LIVE and IN REAL TIME all the activities of the weekend in Hungaroring.
