Nicholas Latifi will have the same car upgrades as Alexander Albon at the French GP. Williams' performance director Dave Robson confirmed
After two races where only Alexander Albon received the Williams updates to see where the team was headed, the news has finally reached Nicholas Latifi. Williams performance director Dave Robson has confirmed that the Canadian driver will get the updates at this weekend's French GP.
Although Albon did not score in the British and Austrian GP, the team feels that the circumstances of both weekends played against him. The car, however, is clearly superior to before.
"After introducing new parts to Alex's car in the last two races, we are now in a position to use these updates on both cars. Even though the weather at Silverstone and the format of the sprint race in Austria was not ideal for testing, we saw enough to be encouraged by the feedback and confident that this is an evolution," he said.
"With the weather likely to be hot, dry and stable conditions, we will evaluate Friday to help Nick understand the updates and thus continue to understand how we can best exploit the performance of this new package," he followed.
Unsurprisingly after saying that his car was the worst on the grid in Austria, Latifi was excited about the possibility.
"I'm very motivated to go back to France, because it's the first race with the new package. We've seen the signs on Alex's car so far, so I'm looking forward to finally getting a taste of it. I hope it will bring more in terms of performance, because we've missed that, and bring us closer to the fight," he said.
"France has a unique track: lots of escape areas, so track limits will be a problem, as they were in Austria. More than anything, I'm looking forward to continuing the development of the car and having a chance to gather good information for the team going forward," he finished.
