Lewis Hamilton was teased by Carlos Sainz, who said that Mercedes is finally ready to fight at the front during their conversation in the waiting room after the F1 British GP.

Ferrari's Sainz won his first F1 race in his 150th attempt at Silverstone on Sunday, and was joined on the podium by Red Bull's Sergio Perez and Mercedes' Hamilton.

Hamilton briefly led the British GP, his first time at the front in the 2022 season, and was heavily involved in a thrilling battle for the podium places. Sainz, meanwhile, held off all competitors, including Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc.

After Sainz and Perez chatted in Spanish, Hamilton entered the cool-down room:

Hamilton to Sainz: Congratulations, man.

Sainz to Hamilton: I heard you were there! So you guys are officially back?

Hamilton: You guys are really fast on the straights, man.

Perez to Hamilton: You almost passed me...

Hamilton: Yeah! Oh man...

Hamilton said earlier on Sky: "I gave everything. I tried to chase those Ferraris, but they were too fast. I was in the battle with Checo, but those guys are very fast on the straights."

"I'm very grateful for the hard work the team did to get an upgrade. We took a step closer. We lost time in the pit stop. I was chasing, chasing, chasing.

"We have improvements to make. Being on the podium is a big bonus. I'm happy that everyone is safe from the crash at the start," he concluded.
