Political issues have become "more important" than Formula One.
That's the opinion of Sebastian Vettel, who is becoming as well-known for his environmental and social messages as he is for racing Aston Martin.
In Baku, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem backed down after suggesting that the drivers were focusing too much on political issues.
"All this is proof of how diverse our world has become, with numerous problems that need to be faced," he said. "But you also shouldn't impose your worldview on others and put it above the sport."
The four-time world champion admits that he and fellow activist Lewis Hamilton agree "on many things."
"These issues are more important than us - more important than the sport," Vettel told .
"We should keep drawing attention to them and show people that there are many things we can do better."
And apparently referring to Ben Sulayem, the German added: "I think there are people who are a little bit behind in terms of their attitude.
"So it's good to keep drawing attention to that. I don't have to and won't accept things that are not correct."
