The accident in Monaco happened around the 30th lap. Schumacher lost the rear end of his car in the Pool area, spun, and could not avoid the violent crash that split the car in two. The concern for Mick's condition was real, such was the damage to the Haas car, which broke in two. "I'm fine, I just don't understand," he said over the radio, reassuring everyone.
