There are many Dutch fans present at the Red Bull Ring this weekend. Verstappen is therefore very encouraged. "It was great to see, and there was a lot of smoke at the end," Verstappen said after the short race.
The Red Bull driver is pleased with the result, but expects Ferrari and Red Bull to be tied during Sunday's race. "It was good, I think it was a decent race. We had a good pace at the beginning. I think after that we were very close. It was good. It was how a short race should be, foot on the bottom," he said.
Verstappen managed to open a gap to the rest of the pack after the start. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz fought each other for second position, allowing the Dutchman to pull away. Leclerc was ultimately unable to get close to the Red Bull car. Verstappen warns of an exciting fight on Sunday.
"Of course they were also fighting a bit, so I had a bit of an advantage. After that, I think we were pretty similar in pace, so I expect tomorrow to be a very interesting battle again," commented the Red Bull driver.
"The race is for a lot longer, so it's going to be quite tricky with the tires. I think the car is good. There are just a few things to find, but overall we were very competitive again this weekend," concluded the Dutchman.
