Verstappen sees "lottery" in Q3 and is happy with 2nd place in England: "We have a good car

Max Verstappen dominated Silverstone in the rain, but was unable to secure pole position for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix - which was held by Carlos Sainz for the first time in his career. While the Ferrari driver finally enters the list of drivers who have started at least once at the front of the grid, the reigning world champion will join him on the front row.

Even with successive errors in Q3 and a yellow flag at the end that hampered the final lap, Verstappen preferred to praise the Red Bull car - which according to the Dutchman, once again behaved satisfactorily in qualifying - and also to highlight his confidence in a good result in the race in England.

"It was a tricky qualifying with the rain, then dry track, then rain again, anyway. I had to be on track at the right time, but I think overall the car worked well. Q3 is a lottery sometimes. I was a little bit hindered on my final lap, with the yellow flag, unfortunately. But still, being on the front row is very good for us - we have a good race car in the dry and in the wet," spoke the hopeful Dutchman.

"It's not about the first lap, it's about the whole race. As I said, we have a good car and there is also the issue of tire wear. I'm looking forward to tomorrow," Verstappen finished.
