Verstappen opens up 21 points with Azerbaijan GP win. Check out the standings

Max Verstappen reached 150 points in the Formula One 2022 Drivers' World Championship and extended his lead after winning the race in Baku

The leader is the same, but Max Verstappen's lead has increased. The reigning world champion won the Azerbaijan GP on Sunday (12) in Baku to reach 150 points for the 2022 season. It is his biggest lead of the season and was achieved thanks to yet another problem for Charles Leclerc, who abandoned with another engine failure while leading.

With the result, Verstappen now has a 21-point lead over second place. Which is no longer Leclerc. Sergio Pérez was second in the race and set the best lap, enough to reach 129 and snatch the second place.

Leclerc was left with third place after another race in which the chance of victory was real and fell apart for reasons completely unrelated to his driving. He finishes third with 116 points.
