Max Verstappen doesn't want to let his wide lead in the Drivers' World Championship take his focus away and believes Ferrari should be faster at the Hungarian GP next Sunday (31st)
Max Verstappen left the French GP with a very comfortable lead over Charles Leclerc in the Formula 1 Drivers' World Championship. With the Monegasque's retirement and seventh victory of the season, the defending champion now has a 63-point lead. Even so, Max does not want to be carried away by the good moment, and believes that the team still has a lot of work to do.
The Dutchman sees Red Bull at a disadvantage in qualifying pace to Ferrari. He also believes that the Italian team should do better next Sunday (31st) in Hungary. Therefore, he avoids getting carried away with the current lead.
"It's a great lead, but a lot can happen. I just want to stay focused. We need a lot more good results. We still need more speed in the fast laps, and I think the next race will be more difficult for us, while I think Ferrari will be very, very fast," Verstappen revealed after the French GP.
"But we'll see. Again, it's all about scoring points in every race, even if it's not your day," the Dutchman concluded.
