Max Verstappen expressed his expectations for the British GP, pointing to tire strategy as one of the keys to success at Silverstone.

Verstappen leads the championship with a 46-point lead over his teammate Sergio Perez. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc is another three points behind.

However, the Dutchman is keeping his feet firmly on the ground, knowing that several elements need to fall into place for him to increase his tally of six wins in nine races so far this season.

Speaking about the event in Red Bull's official newsletter, Verstappen said, "The performance this weekend will depend on us finding a good balance.

"We also need a decent tire strategy, as degradation will be high. So there are a lot of things we have to get right this weekend; it won't be easy at all."

After recent visits to Monte Carlo, Baku and Montreal, Verstappen is looking forward to the high-speed corners of Silverstone.

"I'm looking forward to going back to Silverstone because it's a really classic and historic race on the calendar," he added.

"There are a lot of amazing fans there and it's nice to know that we are right next to the team's factory in Milton Keynes. It's also great to be back at a traditional track after several street circuits."
