With his victory at the Azerbaijan GP, the Dutch driver tied Jim Clark and Niki Lauda and achieved his 25th career victory
Current world champion Max Verstappen took his fifth win of the 2022 Formula 1 season last Sunday (12), in Baku, at the Azerbaijan GP. By crossing the finish line in first place, the Red Bull Dutchman reached the number of 25 career wins, thus entering the list of the 10 biggest winners in the history of the category.
The 24-year-old has now joined Jim Clark and Niki Lauda in the top 10. The top-10 includes three drivers still active: Fernando Alonso (6th, with 32), Sebastian Vettel (3rd, with 53), and Lewis Hamilton (1st, with 103).

Verstappen also made his name in history in another way at the Azerbaijan GP. The race in Baku represented the 66th podium of the 'Super Max' for Red Bull - now the young Dutchman is the one who has represented the Austrian team the most at champagne time, surpassing Vettel with 65.
Verstappen is now aiming for his 26th Formula 1 victory to become the ninth most successful driver in the category. Mathematically speaking, if the Dutchman man manages to win the remaining 14 races on the calendar - which would be, hypothetically, another isolated record - the reigning world champion would reach victory number 39, two behind Ayrton Senna in the top-5.
