Verstappen dissatisfied with P3: "Couldn't do a good lap

Max Verstappen was not satisfied with his RB18 in qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. As a result, the Red Bull driver was unable to put in a good lap, so he hopes that the problem will be solved during the race.

Verstappen will have to try to overtake pole Charles Leclerc and his P3 teammate Sergio Perez on Sunday. Not looking too happy with his position, the Dutchman, however, expresses cautious confidence in Red Bull's race pace.

"It's not bad, of course, but it's not good enough either. It was difficult again this weekend to find a good balance in qualifying. The overall Q3 didn't go very well," he told Viaplay.

"We didn't have a good balance from front to back and then you can't really be constant in how you approach a lap with braking and cornering. So of course you can't do a very good lap, but we are still third. I just hope that tomorrow in the race the balance looks a little more normal," he continued.

Verstappen is still unsure whether his team will also be faster on Sunday, as the gap to Leclerc was large in qualifying. The Dutchman will have to hope for a better balance during the race and perhaps another strategic mistake by Ferrari.

"It's hard to say, because there is a big difference again in qualifying. They will definitely have found something again, I just hope that during tomorrow's race it will be a little bit closer. If we have speed and can really put pressure on them, then we can pass them," concluded the Dutchman.
