The crash between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at the 2021 British GP was one of several controversial moments between the two in last year's title race, but the Dutchman assured that he has no hard feelings against the seven-time champion
In 2021, the British GP was the scene of one of the controversial maneuvers involving Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in the race for the title. On the first lap of the race, the two crashed at Copse, a high-speed corner, and the Red Bull Dutchman took the worst of it, and was taken to the hospital for precautionary tests. Hamilton, on the other hand, was punished by 10 seconds, but this did not prevent him from winning his home race for the eighth time.
Verstappen would become champion at the end of that season, but the duels against the Mercedes driver were marked and come up again and again. It would be no different in Formula One's return to the legendary Silverstone circuit, but the Red Bull representative emphasized that he has no regrets about the accident.
"I have no hard feelings. I think I can put those things aside easily. Of course it wasn't cool what happened, but in the end you deal with it," Verstappen said when asked by GP Racing magazine. "It was something that didn't have a good impact for me, personally speaking, but we will go back there and try to win, no doubt," he stressed.
"I love that track. I love being there, it's a very good atmosphere," the driver continued. About the rivalry and the possible reaction of the public to his presence, Verstappen was calm.
"The good thing is that when you get in the car with your helmet on, you don't hear anything. They [the public] love motorsport. I mean, it's a big thing in England, no?" the 2022 F1 World Championship leader finished.
